Description
The Checkout Referrals adds to the checkout of Easy Digital Downloads, WooCommerce and Restrict Content Pro a field or dropdown menu where the customer manually selects the affiliate who should receive the sale commission, even without a tracked referral link in the URL. Each order now records a note with the referral ID, the commission amount and the affiliate name, expanding the attribution scenarios that AffiliateWP natively covers.
Key Features
- Affiliate selection at checkout: displays a dropdown menu or input field for the customer to enter the affiliate ID or username responsible for the sale.
- Conditional activation: the field appears only when there is no referral link being tracked, avoiding conflict with AffiliateWP’s standard flow.
- Order note with referral data: automatically inserts a note containing the referral ID, the recorded value and the linked affiliate name.
- Optional mandatory selection: blocks order completion until the customer chooses an affiliate, useful in programs where every sale must have attribution.
- Display customization: adjusts the text above the field and the format in which affiliates appear in the checkout list.
Checkout Referrals Benefits
- Direct attribution by the customer: lets the buyer indicate at the time of purchase which affiliate should be credited with the commission, without relying on a cookie or tracked link.
- Support for donation programs and NGOs: covers scenarios where the customer chooses the beneficiary organization as the affiliate at checkout.
- Referral traceability in the order: keeps the referral visible on the order screen, making it easier to audit commissions and provide support.
- Native compatibility with three platforms: integrates with Easy Digital Downloads, WooCommerce and Restrict Content Pro without additional gateway configuration.
Who Is It For?
- WooCommerce or Easy Digital Downloads stores with an affiliate program managed by AffiliateWP.
- Subscription and restricted content sites that use Restrict Content Pro and want to attribute commissions at the time of sale.
- Programs where affiliates are NGOs, institutions or partners that the customer chooses directly in checkout.
Recommended for administrators of affiliate programs who need to allow manual affiliate selection at the time of purchase, whether for donation campaigns, institutional partnerships, or sales without a tracked referral link.
