Description

The bbPress addon enables the rendering of forums, topics, and replies on AMP pages of AMPforWP, replicating bbPress’s native structure within the accelerated mobile format. The extension displays the list of forums, opens discussions, and allows visitors to submit replies directly through the AMP version, preserving the same design as the conventional site for communities that rely on forums as a central exchange channel.

Main Features

  • Forum listing: presents all forums created in bbPress within AMP pages, preserving hierarchy and structure.
  • Topics in AMP: renders each forum’s topics with a consistent layout relative to the site’s standard version.
  • Replies and discussions: displays the reply history and opens the discussion flow directly within the AMP layer.
  • Submitting replies via AMP: enables the form so that users can reply to topics without leaving the accelerated version.
  • Ongoing development: receives regular updates to keep pace with new versions of bbPress, AMPforWP and WordPress.

Benefits of bbPress

  • Reduced loading time: delivers the forum in AMP format, shortening the time to first interaction on mobile.
  • Engagement in the AMP version: keeps the user within the accelerated flow even when participating in discussions, without redirecting to the conventional site.
  • Visual consistency: preserves the same format and identity of the forum across both versions, avoiding dissonance between desktop and mobile.
  • Mobile search visibility: makes forum pages eligible for the indexing and display benefits associated with AMP in search results.

Who Is It For?

  • Sites with an active bbPress community that want to keep the forum operational within the AMP layer.
  • Publishers and blogs with a complementary forum to editorial content and predominantly mobile traffic.
  • Support, discussion, and Q&A projects built on bbPress that depend on good performance on mobile devices.

Recommended for bbPress community administrators who already use AMPforWP and need to extend the forum experience to the accelerated version without sacrificing interaction or visual identity.
