Description

Accordion addon organizes categories and packages of Download Manager into expandable panels with on-demand AJAX loading, chevron animations, and full keyboard support via ARIA. Also available as a Gutenberg block with category controls, template, and ordering, it displays multiple instances on the same page and syncs colors with WPDM’s visual scheme, including native dark mode.

Main Features

  • Modern card panels: expand and collapse animations with CSS grid transitions and animated chevron icons.
  • AJAX Loading: subcategories and packages are fetched on demand, preventing full page rendering at once.
  • WCAG Accessibility: ARIA attributes, arrow navigation, Home, End, Enter and Space via keyboard.
  • Dedicated Gutenberg block: visual controls for category, link template, and sorting criteria inside the editor.
  • Configurable shortcode: use [wpdm-accordion] with attributes such as cats, template, orderby, and order.

Accordion Benefits

  • Compact navigation: extensive download libraries are organized in a clickable hierarchical structure.
  • Loading performance: AJAX lazy load reduces the initial page weight, even with many nested categories.
  • Visual consistency: inherits primary colors and dark mode from WPDM without manual CSS adjustments.
  • User inclusion: keyboard and screen readers work end-to-end in the component.

Who Is It Recommended For?

  • Sites with a vast catalog of files divided into multiple Download Manager categories.
  • Educational portals, technical repositories, and knowledge bases that require accessible navigation.
  • Editors who prefer to build listings directly in Gutenberg or insert via shortcode on specific pages.

The component fits well in download centers, member areas, and corporate libraries where each section needs to stay visible without inflating the page. By working with nonces, input sanitization, and granular AJAX loads, it keeps the catalog organized and secure even in structures with multiple layers of subcategories.
