Description
The Amazon S3 extension allows hosting the Download Monitor files in Amazon Web Services buckets, connecting the download manager directly to AWS cloud storage through the access credentials configured in the panel. The add-on keeps the real bucket link hidden, generating signed and temporary URLs for each request, which protects your files from hotlinking and unauthorized access while reducing load on the WordPress server.
Key Features
- Hosting in S3 buckets
Links each Download Monitor download to a file stored inside an Amazon S3 bucket. - Temporary signed URLs
Generates access links with a defined expiration, making direct sharing outside the site more difficult. - AWS credential configuration
Lets you enter the Amazon access key and secret key directly in the plugin panel. - Select bucket per download
Enables choosing the bucket and object path for each item within the Download Monitor editor. - Serve files without overloading WordPress
Routes download traffic to AWS infrastructure, easing bandwidth usage on the server.
Benefits of Amazon S3
- Scalability of AWS infrastructure
Supports large files and traffic spikes using S3 capacity instead of the local server. - Protection against hotlinking
Keeps the real hidden file path, making it harder to reuse the link on external sites. - Server bandwidth savings
Reduces hosting costs by transferring download traffic to the Amazon cloud. - Centralized storage
Allows keeping all files with a single provider, simplifying backups and media organization.
Who Is It For?
- Sites that distribute heavy files like videos, installers, or software packages.
- Businesses and agencies that already use Amazon Web Services infrastructure in their projects.
- Digital stores and content portals that need to reduce bandwidth usage on the WordPress server.
The integration between Download Monitor and Amazon S3 is recommended for operations that grow in volume and don’t want to keep large files hosted alongside WordPress. By combining the plugin’s download management with the robustness of S3, the component delivers a reliable file delivery layer, with temporary URLs and granular control over each item made available.
