Description
The addon WPForms Lock conditions the download of files from Download Monitor to the prior completion of a linked WPForms form, capturing name, email and other defined fields before releasing the link. Designed for teams that distribute ebooks, whitepapers, spreadsheets and rich materials via WordPress, it turns each protected file into a lead capture point, with the option to display as a popup or directly embedded on the download page.
Key Features
- Link with WPForms form
Associates each download with a specific WPForms form created in the native editor of the plugin. - Display as popup or inline
Shows the form in an overlay modal or embedded directly below the download button. - Conditional release upon submission
Blocks the download link until the visitor submits all required form fields. - Collection of custom fields
Utilizes any field structure supported by WPForms, including email, phone, company, and selects. - No-code configuration
All linking occurs in the Download Monitor metabox via the WordPress admin panel.

- Qualified lead capture
Each protected download becomes an opportunity to generate segmented contact based on the type of material accessed. - Email list growth
Increases subscriber list by requiring registration before delivering valuable content. - Monetizing free content
Ensures return in the form of data whenever rich materials are distributed via the site. - Agile implementation
Eliminates need for a developer to protect downloads; simply create the form and select it on the download.
Who Is It Recommended For?
- Digital marketing teams that distribute rich materials as digital lead magnets.
- Educational content creators, info-product producers, and ebook authors.
- Agencies and consultancies delivering studies, reports, and spreadsheets for lead capture.

This item is an add-on for the Download Monitor plugin. Installed on its own it throws no error, but it does not work either.
- Install and activate the Download Monitor plugin before this one.
- Download the file
dlm-wpforms-lock.zip. - In the WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin.
- Select the file
dlm-wpforms-lock.zip, click Install Now and then Activate.
- Both stay active at the same time. Deactivating the Download Monitor plugin turns this add-on off with it.
- An add-on settings usually show up inside the main plugin screens, not in a menu of their own. If you find nothing new in the dashboard after activating, look there before opening a ticket.
