Description
The Social Activity add-on adds an activity feed to Ultimate Member profiles, allowing members to publish public posts, attach photos, embed YouTube and Vimeo videos, comment, like, and reply to comments, as well as mark clickable hashtags. It’s designed for community sites that want to turn static profiles into an active social feed, with privacy controls that let each user make the feed public, restricted to members, or visible only to followers.
Key Features of Social Activity
- Photo post feed
Members create posts on their own profile or on another user’s profile, attaching an image to the text. - Comments, likes, and replies
Each post supports likes, comments, and threaded replies linked to other comments. - Clickable hashtags
Posts tagged with a hashtag are grouped on a tag page when clicking the term. - YouTube and Vimeo embed
Video links pasted into the post become an embedded player directly in the activity feed. - Global and personal feed shortcodes
Displays the site’s overall feed or the logged-in user’s feed on any page via shortcode.
Benefits of Social Activity
- A more active community
A continuous feed gives members a recurring reason to come back and follow what others are doing. - Profiles with their own life
The profile stops being a static card and becomes a showcase of the member’s participation. - Privacy in the hands of the member
Each user decides whether the feed is public, for members only, or for followers only. - Distributed moderation
Reporting posts on the front-end helps the admin identify abuse without having to manually scan everything.
Who Is Social Activity Intended For?
- Anyone running online communities in Ultimate Member and wants to encourage direct conversation between members.
- Anyone managing hobby clubs, fan clubs, or vertical networks (photographers, gamers, readers) that request interaction-rich profiles.
- Anyone operating a members area with courses and wants to add discussion among students without installing BuddyPress.
How to Download Social Activity
The Social Activity is available for download here on Ultrapack. After downloading the .zip file, install it in Plugins > Add New > Upload plugin, select the file, and activate it with the Ultimate Member already present on the site. The Activity tab starts appearing on members’ profiles right after activation.
Online communities built with Ultimate Member gain, with Social Activity, an extra layer of social feed that previously required BuddyPress or a separate network. The combination of photo posts, video embeds, hashtags, and comment replies keeps the member coming back to the site to follow others’ activity, and the granular privacy controls respect those who prefer a more reserved profile within the same community.

How to install
Automatic updates: this item is updated by the Ultrapack Auto Updater. With it installed, the new version shows up in your dashboard like any other WordPress update (how to set it up).
This item is an add-on for the Ultimate Member plugin. Installed on its own it throws no error, but it does not work either.
- Install and activate the Ultimate Member plugin before this one.
- Download the file
um-social-activity.zip. - In the WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin.
- Select the file
um-social-activity.zip, click Install Now and then Activate.
Requirements: Requires WordPress 6.2 or higher and PHP 7.0 or higher. Tested up to WordPress 6.9.
- Both stay active at the same time. Deactivating the Ultimate Member plugin turns this add-on off with it.
- An add-on settings usually show up inside the main plugin screens, not in a menu of their own. If you find nothing new in the dashboard after activating, look there before opening a ticket.
