Description
The FedEx Shipping module connects WooCommerce checkout to the FedEx API, calculating real-time shipping rates for domestic and international shipments with services such as Priority Overnight, Ground, International Priority, and One Rate. Designed for stores based in the US or Canada that ship packages via FedEx, it displays rates in the cart according to weight, dimensions in inches/pounds, and the buyer’s destination ZIP code.
Key Features of FedEx Shipping
- Real-time rates
Queries the FedEx API at checkout and returns the exact shipping cost for each service. - Extensive service catalog
Includes domestic options such as Ground and Overnight and international options such as Priority and Economy. - Box configuration
Allows you to register the dimensions and weights of standard packages for automatic product fitting. - Unit conversion
Works natively with inches and pounds, converting measurements from other metric systems. - Modern compatibility
Works with Gutenberg cart and checkout blocks and supports HPOS order storage.
Benefits of FedEx Shipping
- Transparency in the cart
The buyer sees the actual shipping cost before completing the purchase, reducing abandonment caused by unexpected costs. - Less operational friction
Eliminates manual shipping calculations for each order and reduces customer service questions about delivery times. - International reach
Enables sales to international destinations using FedEx’s global logistics network. - Protected margins
Passes the carrier’s official rate on to the customer, preventing losses on heavy orders or long-distance shipments.
Who Is FedEx Shipping Recommended For?
- Those who sell physical products from an operation in the United States or Canada and use FedEx as their standard carrier.
- Stores that ship international packages and need to display shipping rates quoted directly by FedEx at the time of purchase.
- Those who work with bulky or palletized goods or less-than-truckload shipping and want access to Freight options at checkout.
How to Download FedEx Shipping
FedEx Shipping is available for download here at Ultrapack. After saving the .zip file, go to Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin, select the package, and activate it. The options will then appear under WooCommerce > Settings > Shipping, where you can enter your FedEx account credentials and configure available boxes and services.
Within the WooCommerce shipping methods ecosystem, this component replaces fixed-rate table calculations with live quotes directly from FedEx, reflecting the selected service, actual weight, package dimensions, and recipient location. Integration with HPOS and checkout blocks keeps the store aligned with WooCommerce’s latest infrastructure without requiring additional compatibility layers.
For those handling a significant volume of FedEx shipments, the main benefit lies in consolidating rates, contracts, and shipping options within the same order flow, with box and unit rules configurable through the dashboard. It is a direct way to open sales across continental and international routes without creating separate rate spreadsheets.

What changed in this version
Version 4.8.1 2026-09-16
- Tweak - The FedEx Freight credentials warning is now a standard WooCommerce notice plus an Inbox note, it names the affected shipping zones, and it returns after 30 days if the credentials are still missing instead of staying dismissed forever. The `fedex_dismiss_freight_credentials_notice` AJAX action is deprecated and will be removed in 4.9.0; existing dismissals are migrated automatically.
Version 4.8.0 2026-09-03
- Add - FedEx Freight (LTL) live rates via the new FedEx Freight platform (api.ltl.tech), which the FedEx Freight spinoff moved LTL rating onto.
- Add - Separate FedEx Freight API credentials, OAuth, and an independent production/sandbox environment toggle for the FedEx Freight platform.
- Tweak - FedEx Freight (LTL) rates now require separate FedEx Freight API credentials from developer.fedexfreight.com. Stores that rated LTL before the spinoff will not receive LTL rates until those credentials are entered.
- Fix - A rate response containing no rates is now remembered for ten minutes instead of a week, so a temporary empty result from FedEx no longer suppresses rates for that destination for days.
- Fix - Stores that have not entered their FedEx API credentials no longer write authentication errors to the log on every request.
- Fix - Saving new API credentials now clears the cached token and reports whether they authenticated; both checks were silently skipped before.
- Fix - Rate quotes returned without pricing details, which FedEx sends for services it could not rate, no longer emit PHP notices.
- Tweak - FedEx Freight rate activity is now logged under its own environment and tagged separately from parcel, so the two can be told apart when they use different environments.
- Tweak - WooCommerce 11.1 Compatibility.
Version 4.7.1 2026-08-24
- Fix - PHP warning "Undefined array key 'id'" during rate calculation when custom boxes are configured.
- Tweak - WordPress 7.1 Compatibility.
Version 4.7.0 2026-08-05
- Add - FEDEX_INTERNATIONAL_DEFERRED_FREIGHT service code and freight mapping, so stores with freight enabled see the service named in the cart instead of with a blank label.
- Fix - Freight-qualified shipments to international destinations no longer return a 400 error; routed to standard rate endpoint which can return INTERNATIONAL_PRIORITY_FREIGHT and INTERNATIONAL_ECONOMY_FREIGHT for heavy international packages.
- Fix - StateOrProvinceCode is no longer sent for non-US/CA/PR destinations.
- Fix - Hyphens stripped from recipient postal codes for international format compatibility.
- Tweak - Removed the legacy SOAP (Web Services) API. All stores now use the REST API; any store still configured for SOAP is automatically switched to REST.
Version 4.6.2 2026-07-27
- Tweak - WooCommerce 11.0 Compatibility.
