Description
The Locations addon adds a “Job Region” taxonomy to WP Job Manager, letting you register a predefined list of regions in the dashboard and replace the free location field with a structured dropdown in job submission and search. It serves anyone maintaining job boards or resume databases with fixed geographic coverage who wants to standardize location entry, avoiding typing inconsistencies from candidates and advertisers.
Key Features of Locations
- Job Region taxonomy
Registers a hierarchical taxonomy of regions for jobs, manageable under Job Listings > Job Regions. - Dropdown in the search form
Replaces the open location field with a selector of the regions registered in the admin. - Coverage for resumes
Applies the same region taxonomy to the WP Job Manager Resumes module. - Compatibility with Alerts
Works with WP Job Manager Alerts, allowing notifications by registered region. - REST API and Gutenberg support
Exposes the taxonomy in the REST API, making it available in the block editor.
Benefits of Locations
- Standardized regions
Eliminates spelling variations such as “NY”, “New York” and “new york” in the same job database. - More reliable searches
Job seekers see only valid regions, cutting zero results caused by incorrect typing. - Back-office organization
Centralizes the curation of the geographic areas served by the portal in a single place. - Archive pages by region
Each registered region gets its own archive URL, useful for local SEO.
Who Is Locations For?
- Anyone running job portals with fixed regional coverage by state, capital or metropolitan area.
- Anyone maintaining a resume database in WP Job Manager who wants to segment candidates by region.
- Aimed at those who prefer a structured dropdown instead of free typing of locations in the public form.
How to Download Locations
Locations is available for download here at Ultrapack. After downloading the .zip file, install it under Plugins > Add New > Upload plugin, select the file and activate the addon. Then register the regions under Job Listings > Job Regions, in the WP Job Manager menu.
For job boards and directories based on WP Job Manager that need normalized geography, Locations solves the weak point of free text entry in search and submission. The integration fits especially well in projects with coverage by predefined states, capitals or metropolitan areas, keeping the job and resume database consistent as the catalog grows.

How to install
Automatic updates: this item is updated by the Ultrapack Auto Updater. With it installed, the new version shows up in your dashboard like any other WordPress update (how to set it up).
This item is an add-on for the WP Job Manager plugin. Installed on its own it throws no error, but it does not work either.
- Install and activate the WP Job Manager plugin before this one.
- Download the file
wp-job-manager-locations.zip. - In the WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin.
- Select the file
wp-job-manager-locations.zip, click Install Now and then Activate.
- Both stay active at the same time. Deactivating the WP Job Manager plugin turns this add-on off with it.
- An add-on settings usually show up inside the main plugin screens, not in a menu of their own. If you find nothing new in the dashboard after activating, look there before opening a ticket.
