Description
BuddyPress Integration connects the wpDiscuz discussions to the BuddyPress activity stream, making each comment appear in the user’s social feed and in community member profiles. The extension also syncs avatars, @username mentions and notifications between the two systems, for those who maintain a WordPress community site and want to turn the comment area into an active part of the internal social network.
Main Features of BuddyPress Integration
- Comments in Activity Stream
Publishes each new wpDiscuz comment to BuddyPress’s activity stream. - Unified profile avatars
Uses the BuddyPress profile avatar in comments instead of the default Gravatar. - Member mentions
Enables @username to tag community members within comments. - Native BuddyPress notifications
Forwards replies and mentions to BuddyPress’s notification center. - Profile history
Lists user’s comment activity on the BuddyPress profile page.

Logged-in BuddyPress users can comment without additional registration or login. - Organic return to post
Reply notifications bring the member back directly to the original discussion.
Who is BuddyPress Integration for?
- Those who run a BuddyPress community and want to activate the comments area as a live social space.
- Targeted at users of wpDiscuz on an editorial portal who have added BuddyPress to create an internal network among readers.
- Those who maintain a course platform or online club with member profiles and want to connect comments to BuddyPress profiles.
How to Download BuddyPress Integration
BuddyPress Integration is available for download here on Ultrapack. After downloading the .zip file, install it in Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin, select the file and activate it along with the already present wpDiscuz and BuddyPress. Options appear within wpDiscuz settings after activation.
Targeted at WordPress sites that combine post discussion and an internal social network, BuddyPress Integration reduces the effort of maintaining two parallel systems: BuddyPress activity feed now reflects what happens in comments, and each member’s identity remains consistent across the two layers. A good fit for editorial communities, course platforms, and online clubs already using wpDiscuz and BuddyPress.

How to install
Automatic updates: this item is updated by the Ultrapack Auto Updater. With it installed, the new version shows up in your dashboard like any other WordPress update (how to set it up).
This item is an add-on for the wpDiscuz plugin. Installed on its own it throws no error, but it does not work either.
- Install and activate the wpDiscuz plugin before this one.
- Download the file
wpdiscuz-buddypress-integration.zip. - In the WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin.
- Select the file
wpdiscuz-buddypress-integration.zip, click Install Now and then Activate.
- Both stay active at the same time. Deactivating the wpDiscuz plugin turns this add-on off with it.
- An add-on settings usually show up inside the main plugin screens, not in a menu of their own. If you find nothing new in the dashboard after activating, look there before opening a ticket.
