Description
The Alphabetical addon adds to FacetWP an A-Z letter navigation facet that filters results according to the first letter of the post title. Ideal for extensive directories, glossaries, and catalogs, this extension organizes long listings into navigable alphabetical indexes, reducing the amount of scrolling and clicks visitors need to make to locate the desired item within a large collection of content.
Main Features
- A-Z navigation facet
Creates a bar of clickable letters that filters posts by the first letter of the title. - Native integration with FacetWP
Appears as an additional facet type in the base plugin’s standard builder. - Filtering by title initial
Automatically applies the filter to the title field of the post selected in the query. - Compatible with dynamic listings
Works alongside other FacetWP facets in any archive template or loop. - Customizable styling
Lets you adjust the appearance of the letters via CSS to match the theme’s visual style.
Benefits of Alphabetical
- Faster navigation in extensive catalogs
Visitors locate items in long directories with a single click on the initial letter. - Better experience in large listings
Reduces scrolling fatigue in collections with hundreds or thousands of entries. - Immediate visual organization
Presents a clear index right at the top of the results page. - Combination with existing filters
Works together with other facets without query or pagination conflicts.
Who Is It For?
- Sites with directories of companies, professionals, or establishments.
- Alphabetical glossaries, encyclopedias, and knowledge bases.
- Product, author, or artist catalogs with a large volume of items.
- Educational portals with extensive lists of courses, terms, or references.
On sites that rely on long, organized listings, this extension turns a common need (finding content by its initial letter) into an interface familiar to visitors. Combined with FacetWP’s other facets, it transforms dense archive pages into navigable structures, especially useful for professional directories, technical glossaries, and catalogs with hundreds of title-indexed entries.

Automatic updates: this item is updated by the Ultrapack Auto Updater. With it installed, the new version shows up in your dashboard like any other WordPress update (how to set it up).
This item is an add-on for the FacetWP plugin. Installed on its own it throws no error, but it does not work either.
- Install and activate the FacetWP plugin before this one.
- Download the file
facetwp-alpha.zip. - In the WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin.
- Select the file
facetwp-alpha.zip, click Install Now and then Activate.
- Both stay active at the same time. Deactivating the FacetWP plugin turns this add-on off with it.
- An add-on settings usually show up inside the main plugin screens, not in a menu of their own. If you find nothing new in the dashboard after activating, look there before opening a ticket.
