Description
The Caching add-on stores FacetWP AJAX request results in the database, retrieving combinations of filters that have already been queried instead of reprocessing the query on every new visit. Each unique combination of facets used by a visitor is saved, speeding up high-traffic pages with recurring filters, without overlapping page cache plugins like WP Rocket, which already ignore AJAX calls by default.
Key Features
- Database caching for AJAX calls
Saves the result of each FacetWP AJAX request in the database to serve future identical queries. - Reuse by filter combination
Identifies each unique set of selected facets and returns the cached response instead of reexecuting the query. - Coexistence with page cache plugins
Runs side by side with WP Rocket and similar tools, which normally ignore AJAX filter requests. - Dedicated drop-in db.php
Installs a db.php file in wp-content to intercept FacetWP queries at the database level. - Compatibility with FacetWP 4.0+
Requires FacetWP version 4.0 or higher, integrating directly into the base plugin’s request cycle.
Caching Benefits
- Faster responses in filtered listings
Visitors who reapply popular filters get the result almost instantly, without a new heavy database query. - Less load on MySQL during traffic spikes
Reduces the number of repeated queries during peak hours, easing the database server. - Real gains on landing pages with few filters
Pages with limited facets and recurring combinations make the most of the stored cache. - Deployment without rewriting queries
Works as a complementary layer to FacetWP, without requiring changes to templates, the theme, or existing shortcodes.
Who Is It For?
- WooCommerce stores with advanced FacetWP filters in large catalogs.
- Listing sites (real estate, classifieds, directories, jobs) with filter combinations that are frequently repeated.
- Administrators who already use WP Rocket or another page cache plugin and need to speed up specifically the FacetWP AJAX queries.
For projects that rely on FacetWP in high-traffic listings, this add-on delivers measurable gains whenever visitors repeat filter combinations. It’s worth considering the known conflict with Query Monitor and W3 Total Cache, since both compete for the same db.php file in wp-content; outside of that scenario, the module operates alongside traditional cache plugins without overlapping functionality.

How to install
Automatic updates: this item is updated by the Ultrapack Auto Updater. With it installed, the new version shows up in your dashboard like any other WordPress update (how to set it up).
This item is an add-on for the FacetWP plugin. Installed on its own it throws no error, but it does not work either.
- Install and activate the FacetWP plugin before this one.
- Download the file
facetwp-cache.zip. - In the WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin.
- Select the file
facetwp-cache.zip, click Install Now and then Activate.
- Both stay active at the same time. Deactivating the FacetWP plugin turns this add-on off with it.
- An add-on settings usually show up inside the main plugin screens, not in a menu of their own. If you find nothing new in the dashboard after activating, look there before opening a ticket.
