Description
The Color addon transforms FacetWP checkbox facets into clickable visual swatches, allowing visitors to filter products by selecting colored squares instead of marking text labels like “blue” or “red”. The extension supports WooCommerce stores with color variations, fashion catalogs, and any site that uses FacetWP to refine results where the appearance of the option communicates faster than the written name of the shade.
Key Features
- Clickable colored swatches
Renders each facet term as a square filled with the corresponding color. - Support for multiple colors per term
Allows associating two or more shades with the same option, useful for printed products. - Integration with WooCommerce variations
Reads color attributes from variable products and automatically displays the corresponding swatch. - Visual selection indicator
Marks the active swatch with a highlighted border to signal the applied filter. - Configuration in the FacetWP panel
Sets color, icon, or image for each term within the facet editing screen itself.
Benefits of Color
- Faster visual filtering
The visitor identifies the desired shade at a glance, without reading lists of names. - Professional-looking catalog
Replaces generic checkboxes with a visual grid aligned with the store’s identity. - Higher mobile engagement
Large, visually clear clickable areas make interaction easier on small screens. - Reduced navigation abandonment
Intuitive filters shorten the path to the right product and reduce drop-offs.
Who Is It For?
- WooCommerce stores for fashion, apparel, and footwear with color variations.
- Physical product catalogs where shade is a decisive factor for purchase (paints, fabrics, accessories).
- Sites that already use FacetWP and want to upgrade text facets into a visual experience.
Built for store owners who work with products in multiple shades, the Color component shortens the path between the visitor and the desired item by swapping term lists for a grid of visual samples. It leverages the indexer, pagination, and AJAX updates that FacetWP already manages, eliminating the need for theme editing or additional code to put the facet live.
