Description
The Stripe Billing Limits addon adds a maximum recurring charge limit field to the Paid Memberships Pro membership levels, causing Stripe to automatically terminate the subscription after reaching the defined number of payments. Designed for those who sell installment-based courses, fixed-duration plans or packages with payment in N installments, it prevents indefinite charging and eliminates manual cancellation when the cycle ends.
Key Features of Stripe Billing Limits
- Limit field per level
Adds an option in the membership level editor to set the total number of permitted charges. - Automatic cancellation in Stripe
When the limit is reached, the recurring subscription is terminated via the gateway API without manual intervention. - Per subscription plan application
Each Paid Memberships Pro level can have its own number of charges, independent of others. - Compatibility with the Stripe gateway
Connects to the standard recurring payment flow of the PMPro configured for Stripe. - Ordered subscription termination
After the last valid charge, the billing cycle ends and the membership follows the PMPro expiration rules.
Benefits of Stripe Billing Limits
- Viable installment payment models
Allows selling programs in N installments on Stripe without lifelong billing at contract end. - Less operational work
Eliminates the need to manually monitor each subscription to cancel at the right time. - Financial predictability
Ensures each member pays exactly the agreed number of installments, without exceeding. - Reduced chargebacks
Prevents billing after the program ends, a situation that often leads to disputes and refund requests.
Who Is Stripe Billing Limits Recommended For?
- Operators who sell online courses in 6, 12, or 24 installments via Stripe and need the billing to stop automatically at the end of the installment plan.
- Those who run fixed-duration plans (split membership fee, quarterly program, semi-annual training) on Paid Memberships Pro.
- Anyone who already uses Stripe as the gateway in PMPro and wants to avoid extra charges after the agreed commitment with the member ends.
How to Download Stripe Billing Limits
The Stripe Billing Limits is available for download here on Ultrapack. After downloading the .zip file, install in Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin, select the file and activate. The charge limit field will appear on the editing screen of each Paid Memberships Pro membership level.
For membership sites that sell programs with time-limited payment, Stripe Billing Limits bridges the gap between a Stripe recurring subscription, which charges indefinitely, and a finite commercial plan, which needs to stop at a date or number of installments. The control remains in the PMPro level itself, without the need for custom scripts or manual adjustments after each closed cycle.
