Description
The FacetWP Multilingual addon integrates FacetWP with translation plugins such as WPML and Polylang, syncing filters and search results based on the visitor’s active language. When a user switches the site language, the facets automatically reindex translated terms, displaying only posts in the current language and keeping consistency among filters, queries and WordPress multilingual files.
Key Features
- WPML Compatibility
Recognizes the active WPML language and filters facet results according to the selected translation. - Polylang Support
Integrates with Polylang to index translated terms and display consistent content in each language. - Reindexing by Language
Generates language-specific indices, ensuring each facet shows options from the correct content version. - Automatically Translated Filters
Taxonomies, custom fields and categories appear in facets in the page’s active language. - Automatic Language Detection
Detects the current language without manual configuration for each created facet.
Benefits of Multilingual
- Consistent Experience Across Languages
Visitors find relevant results in their own language, without mixing with other language versions. - Simplified Multilingual Site Setup
Eliminates the need to duplicate facets for each language, keeping a single set that adapts to context. - Broader International Reach
Enables structuring catalogs and directories for audiences in different regions with the same installation. - Reduced Maintenance
Content updates reflect in facets of all languages after FacetWP’s default reindexing.
Target Audience
- Multilingual WordPress sites already using WPML or Polylang for translation management.
- Stores, directories and portals with extensive catalogs that require language-based filtering.
- Agencies and developers delivering international projects built on FacetWP.
Targeted at projects with audiences in multiple languages, the FacetWP Multilingual addon connects FacetWP’s filtering engine to the translation flow of WPML or Polylang. The result is cohesive navigation where each visitor interacts with facets, taxonomies and results in their language, without needing to maintain parallel configuration sets for each site version.

This item is an add-on for the FacetWP plugin. Installed on its own it throws no error, but it does not work either.
- Install and activate the FacetWP plugin before this one.
- Download the file
facetwp-i18n.zip. - In the WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin.
- Select the file
facetwp-i18n.zip, click Install Now and then Activate.
- Both stay active at the same time. Deactivating the FacetWP plugin turns this add-on off with it.
- An add-on settings usually show up inside the main plugin screens, not in a menu of their own. If you find nothing new in the dashboard after activating, look there before opening a ticket.
