Translation Guide

Updated on Jan 2, 20261 min read
To translate themes and plugins you will need the program Poedit. Download and install it on your computer. Before starting the translation, make sure your WordPress is set to Portuguese. If it is not, go to Settings > General > Site Language and select the option Portuguese (Brazil).

Manual Translation

1 Download the chosen theme and extract it to a directory of your choice.

2 Access the theme installation directory (the one containing the files screenshot.png and style.css) and look for the folder "lang" or "languages".

3 After finding the folder where the languages are stored, you will see one or more files with the extension .po (e.g., en_EN.po, default.po, themename.po, etc). If a Portuguese translation already exists, you will see a file named pt_BR.po. If this file does not exist, duplicate the default file (e.g., en_EN.po) and rename it to pt_BR.po.

4 Open the file you just renamed (pt_BR.po).

5 To translate a text, simply select the desired line and translate it in the footer of the application.

6Save the file after completing all translations. A file named pt_BR.mo will be generated in the same folder.

7 To finish, just upload both translation files (pt_BR.po and pt_BR.mo) to your server.
